Recipes from my Father by Sue Hann

Sue Hann (Recipes from my Father) is a writer based in London. She is a Spread the Word London Writers Awards recipient 2019-20. Her work was long-listed for the Spread the Word Life Writing Prize 2020. She won the Diana Woods Memorial Award in 2020. Her flash fiction came Highly Commended National Flash Fiction Day 2019 Micro Competition. Her work has been published in journals such as Popshot Quarterly, Longleaf Review, Multiplicity Magazine, Lunchticket, One Hand Clapping, Lunate Fiction, Ellipsis Zine, Fewer than 500, Funny Pearls and Litro Online, as well as various flash fiction anthologies. Writing My Mother by Sarah Young

Sarah Young (Writing My Mother) lives in Wellington, New Zealand. She completed a Master of Arts in Creative Writing (Prose) at the University of East Anglia in 2014, where she was the UEA Booker scholarship recipient. Her non-fiction work has been published in Strong Words 2. She has been shortlisted for the Sozopol Fiction Seminar Fellowship in Bulgaria and the Newsroom Surrey Hotel Writers Residency and her fiction was long-listed for the Bath Short Story award and the BBC National Short Story award in the UK. She formerly worked as a journalist in Dubai, Indonesia, and New Zealand.

The Promise of a Dinner Party by Kate Young

Kate Young (The Promise of a Dinner Party) is an awardwinning food writer, cook and bookworm. Her Little Library Cookbooks (The Little Library Cookbook, The Little Library Year, and The Little Library Christmas) feature food inspired by famous, beloved and occasionally obscure works of literature. She has written about food, books, sexuality, and dungarees for various publications, including The Guardian, Prospect Magazine, Slightly Foxed, Stylist, Delicious, and Sainsbury’s Magazine. After a sunny Australian childhood spent indoors reading books, she moved to London, which suited her much better. She is now based in the English countryside. The Little Patch of Yellow Wall by Kimmo Rosenthal

Kimmo Rosenthal (The Little Patch of Yellow Wall) has turned from a career in mathematics and teaching to writing. His most recent work has appeared in Indefinite Space, The Decadent Review, The Fib Review, After the Art, Hinterland, The Dillydoun Review, and is forthcoming in BigCityLit. He also has a Pushcart Prize nomination and is a non-fiction Staff Reader for Ploughshares.

Snow by Noah Birksted-Breen

Noah Birksted-Breen (Snow) translated and directed contemporary Russian plays for staging in the UK for his ensemble Sputnik Theatre Company (www.sputniktheatre.co.uk) for over fifteen years. In 2017, he completed a PhD at Queen Mary University of London, and subsequently worked for three years as a researcher of contemporary Russian culture for Creative Multilingualism at the University of Oxford. Noah is a Researcher in Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment and is currently completing an MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck. In 2019 he was the ?Hackney Winner' of Spread the Word’s City of Stories competition. In 2021, ‘Beef’ was published in The Real Story, and three eco-poems appeared in The Mechanics’ Institute Review.

The Slow Dance by Pragya Agarwal

Pragya Agarwal (The Slow Dance) is a behavioural and data scientist. She has a PhD from Nottingham University and is a Visiting Professor of Inequities and Social Inclusion at Loughborough University. Pragya is the author of Sway: Unravelling Unconscious Bias and Wish We Knew What to Say: Talking with Children about Race. She has also written for The Guardian, Prospect, New Scientist, Literary Hub, AEON, Scientific American and the Wellcome Collection, amongst others. Her most recent book (M)otherhood: On the choices of being a woman is out now. She came to the UK almost 20 years ago and now lives in the north-west next to the sea. Pork Belly Prayer by Maya Osman-Krinsky

Maya Osman-Krinsky (Pork Belly Prayer; they/them) is a native New Yorker who writes about the relationships between language, food, and violence. Maya graduated with a BA in Linguistics from the University of Chicago in 2021 and is now pursuing a Masters in Public Health at Columbia University. Maya is a Pushcart nominee, was named runner-up in the 2020 Kurt Brown Prize for Creative Nonfiction, and participated in the 2021 Tin House Summer Workshop. A Mind Full of Sake by Edward Little

Edward Little (A Mind Full of Sake) is a writer from the Wirral who studied for an MA in Creative Writing at Chester. He has been published in a variety of online and print magazines, including Storgy, Cagibi, Pandora’s Box, and others. Spending a lot of time at open-mic events, he turns stories like this one into performances, hoping to soon have a collection that attracts readers as well as a live audience. This one is dedicated to drunk encounters.

The Pen: A Collection by Sally Gander

Sally Gander (The Pen: A Collection) writes fiction and creative nonfiction. Her work has appeared in Litro, Backlash Press, Porridge, The Lincoln Review, The Blue Nib and Elsewhere. For many years she taught Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, and now teaches students from across the world at Advanced Studies in England. Sally’s Cake by Amy Cotler

Amy Cotler (Sally’s Cake) is a chef and writer. Her short pieces have appeared in various publications, including right here in Hinterland, as well as Guesthouse, The Rambling Epicure and Bright Flash. Before turning to creative writing, Cotler worked as a food writer, cooking teacher and cookbook author. She was a leader of the farm-totable movement in the US, and food forum host for The New York Times. Currently, she lives in Mexico with her husband, an artist, and their dog, Remy.
